Embrace Your Memories

Feet that have lost their way, the village street that turns into a forest path and a note with account numbers – but whose were they again? In Embrace Your Memories, Berry van Galen depicts the life journey of her demented mother. Collages of old family snapshots, magazine clippings and self-made photos reveal the increasing confusion about time, place and space. Melancholic glimpses show what it used to be like, but the puzzle pieces no longer fit together. Fragments from the past merge with photos from today. Traveling through time is becoming more and more wandering. Yet the beautiful details of life are not completely lost; in this project they form the starting point for a new reality.
