Measuring one meter high and wide: close-up portraits of beautiful young women.

Berry van Galen edits her black and white photographs by adding acrylic paint, clippings and scratches.
Context and time get blurred and the sharp edges disappear, leaving a sense of melancholia.

The subject of the photograph is no longer the young person in the picture, seen only partly or through a haze, but the feelings it evokes.
The result is a series of layered portraits with a mystical touch.

And while the maker of the images is letting her muses disappear bit by bit, the essence of their beauty is revealed to us.
